GOP nominee 2008

As much as I love the job Condoleezza Rice is doing as Secretary of State, I'm discouraged by her intellectually embarrassing comments about abortion to The Washington Times. She doesn't think that the government should impose a certain viewpoint, such as the viewpoint that abortion is immoral because it takes the life of an innocent human being. Of course, everything the government does imposes a viewpoint. Since it's wrong to kill innocent human beings without justification, the government enforces certain laws against murder. Perhaps Ms. Rice would like the government to stay "neutral" on the murder issue, as well.

But apparently Rice has now said for sure that she's not running for president. Still, considering the popularity of potential candidates Rudolph Giuliani and John McCain, it's extremely important that the GOP nominates a social conservative for the '08 election. Foreign policy is important, but so are the social issues - and the economic ones, for that matter. We need a candidate who's conservative in all three areas.
